Five Things to Tell Your Younger Self

Recently we were listening to a podcast that’s a panel of women entrepreneurs who we love + get so inspired by. Their entire episode was all of them sharing what they would tell their 20 year old self AND what they would tell themselves 5 months ago so we thought it would be fun for us to share our answers on this week’s episode of Formally Informal because A LOT has changed and we have definitely learned some things the hard way.

Do what makes you happy

Never settle until you find the job, location, friends or relationships that make you happy. As cliche as it may sound, life is way too short to wake up dreading going to work or dealing with a relationship that doesn’t bring you joy. If it doesn’t spark joy, it’s not right for you and that’s fine!

It’s going to be okay

Tough times don’t last, challenges allow you to grow and as hard as it may be at times, we have to trust the process. The stage we all go through in our early 20’s is really just a time of uncertainty + learning things the hard way but we’re here to tell you that it’s going to be okay. We all survived those years which really helped guide us to where we are now.

Always evolve

This is both true in business + in life. Never stop fine-tuning the process and be ok to SHIFT...you’re growing and you can’t effectively grow and mature when you’re holding on to old ways of thinking, or old processes. Since the launch of LEO + LAINE, we have implemented new processes, scrapped those processes and implemented new ones all within less than two years. When things stop working the way they need to, it’s time to evolve.

One day at a time

Life will continue to throw you a lot of things to juggle, but it’s so important to remind yourself to stay present, and handle things one day at a time. If you’re a business owner and have a never ending task list throughout the week like our team, then we understand that it can be hard to not get overwhelmed and start thinking too far ahead, but this is your reminder to STOP thinking about future tasks + tackle what can right now.

Just go for it

We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again. JUST. GO. FOR. IT. Pursue your passions sooner in life, believe in yourself, realize you have a gift, and trust that you’re meant for something different and channel your strengths!!
